Presentation

The discussions that resulted in the proposal for the course were based on the principle that there is a growing demand in society for professionals who, in addition to good theoretical and technical training, are capable of planning, formulating strategies, managing and evaluating Communication projects with social responsibility and ethical issues. The name Organizational Communication for the new course was chosen in order to express, nowadays in Brazil, the United States and European countries, among others, the attributions, functions and communication techniques used by organizations, companies and public, private and third sector institutions. It is a field of professional knowledge, with its theories and techniques, which has also been consolidated as a field of academic research.

Consequently the curriculum of the new course has a series of disciplines related to the general field of Communication, others specific to Organizational Communication and a third part of the curriculum is formed by optional disciplines and free modules, so that the student can build their complementary academic training on their own, taking, for this purpose, elective subjects from the course itself, from daytime qualifications at FAC or from other UnB units. We understand, therefore, that the Organizational Communication course is aligned with the reality of the professional and academic market and is even the first regular undergraduate course with this name in the country. To elaborate the pedagogical project, the curriculum, bibliography, menus and programs of the disciplines of the evening course, FAC had the support and participation of its professors and researchers and renowned professionals and researchers in the area.
