RESUMO:

The well-being of entrepreneurs is a growing research topic. However, more work still needs to be done on how entrepreneurs can protect their well-being in such a challenging environment. There are even fewer articles that address the well-being of entrepreneurs from poor and developing countries and their heterogeneity (e.g., opportunity vs. necessity, commercial vs. social). To help fill these gaps, we propose further exploring recovery interventions for entrepreneurs to find out which are more effective in helping them to detach and recover from work. This proposal will also consider the heterogeneity and context of the entrepreneurs. This research will be composed of four different studies to achieve this aim. Study 1 will be a review of the literature on entrepreneurs' well-being. Study 2 will analyze and combine databases that present information about work-related injuries and diseases and socioeconomic data to investigate whether the socio-demographic and contextual risk factors for these work-related illnesses vary with the worker status (employee, self-employed, public servant, etc.). Study 3 will survey the most vulnerable entrepreneurs’ profiles identified in Study 2 about their demands and resources at different levels (individual, family, and institutional). Study 4 will be a quasi-experiment, based on the previous studies, in which we will propose and test recovery interventions that could help entrepreneurs to detach and recover from work, increasing the protection of entrepreneurs against the risk factors they face.
